A disabled man is brutally stabbed to death in his own home in a quiet Perth suburb, leaving behind a grieving family and a mystery that would span decades.

Andrew Podpinka, a 43-year-old Polish immigrant, was found murdered in his home in Morley, Western Australia, on the afternoon of March 4, 1999. His wife and daughter returned from a shopping trip to discover his body in the main bedroom. He had been brutally stabbed multiple times in what police believe was a burglary that escalated into a violent confrontation.

Mr. Podpinka, who suffered from a debilitating back condition, was home alone at the time of the attack. A neighbour reported seeing him in his front yard at 2:45 PM, just an hour before his family made the gruesome discovery. Investigators believe the offender, or offenders, brought the murder weapon to the scene and fled through the rear of the property. Despite extensive investigations, no one has ever been charged in connection with his death.

The case has been the subject of renewed public appeals over the years, with police particularly interested in a mysterious phone call made just days after the murder. An anonymous male with a New Zealand accent contacted police with information but abruptly hung up, stating he should 'keep his mouth shut'. Detectives believe this individual holds the key to solving the case and have repeatedly urged him to come forward.

A reward of $250,000 was initially offered for information leading to a conviction, which has since been increased to $1,000,000. The Podpinka family, who immigrated to Australia from Poland in 1983, continue to seek justice and closure for the senseless murder of a loving husband and father.
