Darylyn Meridith Ugle
A young woman vanishes from a busy city street, her body discovered weeks later in remote bushland, sparking a major homicide investigation that remains unsolved to this day.
Darylyn Meridith Ugle was a 25-year-old woman who frequented the Highgate and Northbridge areas of Perth. She was last seen alive on Stirling Street, Highgate at about 8:00 pm on Tuesday, March 25, 2003. Her sudden disappearance sparked concern among her family and friends, who described her as a vibrant and friendly person.
On the afternoon of Monday, April 21, 2003, Ms. Ugle's remains were discovered in bushland in the vicinity of the Mundaring Weir, in an area known as Paulls Valley. Her body was found a short distance off Mundaring Weir Road, approximately 2.5km from the Weir itself. Police believe she was assaulted around the time of her death, and that the assault was the likely cause of her death.
Despite extensive investigations by the Western Australia Police Force, no one has ever been charged with Ms. Ugle's murder. In May 2023, the WA Government announced a $1 million reward for information leading to the apprehension and conviction of the person or persons responsible for her death. The case remains open and investigators are hopeful that the reward will encourage someone with information to come forward.
