Zbigniew Boguslaw Oleksiuk
A night at the casino takes a dark turn when a man is found dead in the Swan River, leaving police to unravel a mystery of who wanted him gone and why.
Zbigniew Boguslaw Oleksiuk, a 47-year-old man who migrated to Australia from Poland in the early 1980s, was living in East Victoria Park with his de-facto partner. On the evening of Tuesday, November 14, 2006, his partner drove him to the Burswood Casino around 10:30 pm. Mr. Oleksiuk, reportedly in good spirits, mentioned he would take a taxi home but did not specify a time.
CCTV footage from the casino captured Mr. Oleksiuk walking around the premises and receiving several calls on his mobile phone. At 11:43 pm, he was seen leaving the casino through the southern exit. This was the last time he was seen alive. The following morning, at approximately 5:50 am on Wednesday, November 15, 2006, his body was discovered in the Swan River, about 5 meters from the shoreline in Burswood.
An investigation was launched, and it was determined that Mr. Oleksiuk had been murdered. However, the person or persons responsible for his death have never been identified. Police are seeking information from anyone who may have seen Mr. Oleksiuk at the Burswood Casino on the night of his disappearance or has any knowledge about his death. A reward of $1,000,000 is being offered for information that leads to a conviction in the case.
